What's so great about STARBUCKS?

So for Wade's office party everyone got a Christmas bonus...except for Wade. Go figure. But we did get the cute little Starbucks thermas and gift card that were on the table. Since I had it I figured I might as well use it.

Have you ever noticed how many Starbucks are around? I mean, I can now think of 5 all within 2 miles of each other and there is one in the front part of the parking lot at the grocery store I go to all of the time and I have never noticed it before. Does America really need a coffee fix that badly? Besides, the atmosphere is just okay, right now there is Christmas music playing. But who really wants to spend $4 or more on a cup of joe? even if it has been whipped, frapped, syruped, frothed, and blasted into outerspace (which by the way would more than justify the cost, Space Coffee)? Not to mention the calories and fat content of said drinks. Anyone for a Peppermint Mocha, only 280 calories for 16 fluid oz. and 3 grams of fat, or how about an Eggnog Latte 450 calories and a whopping 18 grams of fat for the same size? And that is only their medium, the venti, or large to those who don't know SB lingo, is even better. So I've tried their hot chocolate and pastries. They actually have small sandwiches and salads, and a few of the locations even had Egg McMuffin looking things for breakfast. The problem is, who wants to pay what they are asking? I'm surprised that each place I've stopped there has 1: been a line at every place 2: seating is limited as there are always too many people milling around, reading the paper, drinking their jolt for the day 3: been no parking but hey it is LA and 4: Daniel always wants to sit down in a seat and join in with the masses. What is up with that?

you should read The Undercover Economist if you want to understand the why behind the pricing of a cup of coffe and how they discriminate pricing by adding whip etc.

why people buy it is because they can get the same (or realatively the same) quality of coffe anywhere in the US or the world where there is a Starbucks. If you've had to drink some of the swill that comes out of these local joints you would appreciate this. And have you had a lemon scone from Starbucks...or a turkish bread, ham and cheese sandwhich...the trick is to order with skim milk, no whip and get it dry. then half the calories.

and nothing like a little sumatra borang borang to start the day...

Skinny (low fat)
Dry - foam, no milk
Double shot - extra espresso
venti - really really large
grande - large
tall - medium
short - small, but no longer sold in the US

Sorry to hear that Wade didn't get a bonus. I don't understand Starbucks either, but go figure. I don't drink coffee and don't care to spend $4 bucks on a hot cocoa. I guess Brittney Spears is reportedly known to spend $18 dollars there a day. No wonder why she can't seem to do a thing right. John, thanks for the lesson in Starbucks 101. Love that short is no longer sold in the US. Sounds like everyone here is running on a large caffeine jolt. I think I would have a heart attack considering I haven't even had a soda with caffeine in it for 15 years.

Wade should ask why he didn't receive a bonus perhaps his performance was bad. And since when do doctors receive bonuses?
