Our blog

We now have followed in tradition and created our own blog. Here is the address.

Cars

for those of you (yes, you Mom) who don't know what the video is it's the Friday night practice session of the first Formula 1 night race in history that took place this past weekend in Singapore. Very fun, exciting and loud, had to put in earplugs the engines revved to loud as they came out of the corner and hit 300KPH (185MPH+ for the metrically challenged) down the straight.

Who Is It?

No cheating if you saw the pics posted somewhere else. In keeping with John's guessing game, who is it....Sarah or Chris

The Breaking Continues

More on the broken bones front of the Lackey family....Kade broke his foot last night doing a "russian" style dance on our hardwood floors. The floors really are quite hard as they are laid right on top of the slab. My feet still haven't adjusted to walking on them and I usually have to keep some type of shoe on to be comfortable. Back to Kade...the Doc put him in a walking boot and said he should be healed in 3 to 4 weeks. He's just happy because he got to skip school today.

Guess

The one on the left is the junkie i think. That is the fatter one.

The circle

Well Tayte is finally not hurting as much. He fractured both of his wrists while swinging on the goal post at soccer practice, when he flew off and landed wrong. He had to take a few weeks off but is ready to play this weekend. They didn't cast him as they say this has been causing joint problems. He also will be getting his Bear badge this month yeah. The kids are off for fall break starting Oct 1- Oct 17. We thinking about going to Park City and using our time share which we have but never use. We are also looking at going to Floridia in Februrary to visit Chris and go to DW. I have a conference there. I think we will take the who fam damily. I will have to be rich enough to higher a nanny by then. Better get to work. The store seems to be picking up sales this month which is great just so the parents know. Other then that life is great. This is my first post since I am blog illiterate. Hopefully you will hear from us more. LOL

Health Care Options

This is an interesting read....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26794291/

and for those who would push for a Canadian type system you should speak to my friend who had to wait 6 weeks for emergency care....

Climbing

Asha is into climbing now. We had to hide the foot stool as she was using it to climb up on the kitchen cabinet and get her fruity pebbles, scissors etc. She's too smart though, and decided to use a trash can instead. When we moved it she stacked up all of the cushions from the living room. She also has a small rattan chair she drags around the second floor and uses as a ladder. She climbs into the fridge (just waiting for that to fall on her). Think it's only a matter of time before she has a Kade incident at the rate she is going (think it was Kade if memory serves).

He arrived!!!!!

Joshua Mateus Lackey. Born at around 12:40 p.m. 7 lbs 15 oz, and 19 inches. He and mom are doing great. Came out after 3 pushes and 5 minutes of "labor". Promptly peed on Dr. Barton and two minutes later on the warming machine.

Looks a lot like his older brother.

Happy Birthday and Congrats!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KEVIN!!! HE RECEIVED ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS EVER TODAY, HIS NEW LITTLE BABY, JOSHUA. I WILL LET HIM FILL YOU IN ON THE DETAILS, BUT HE HAS ARRIVED!!!!

Beijing

Amazed at the changes in Beijing vs 2 years ago. Blue skies (though this may change post Olympics) no traffic, wide streets and the number of new buildings is absolutely amazing. It puts Bangalore and the rest of India to shame. We're looking forward to the move and think we've found a nice 3 bedroom apt in a complex on the 4th ring road near Chaoyang park. We have friends that live there already who's kids are about the same age as ours. It has a kiddie playground and lots of families are out each afternoon. It also has an olympic size pool and a full gym, clubhouse etc so looking forward to some weight loss....We're trying to get up there in mid Oct if everything works out. We'll be renting the house in Singpore out (I hope) as I've learned it's always good to have a passive source of income.

I Love JIB JAB

Looking forward to more hilarious spoofs on politics

The Daily Grind

One of the reasons that I don't post more often is due to the fact that I feel that much of my daily activities are very monotonous. I go to school, I go to work, and I study. That's about it. No fun cutsie stories about kids or great adventures, but I guess even the day to day can sometimes be interesting.

Here's a course list of classes that I'm taking this semester:

Basic Immunology
Physiology w/lab
BioInstrumentations w/lab
OChem II w/lab.

Class is every day and lab is once a week per class. I'm learning some very exciting and interesting things about basic body function. So exciting that it keeps my up at night.

By the way, Q-tip, parents said I could just list the sale of the car for a $1. I'll get that sent to you within the next few days.

Lack of Posts

Not that I can complain, because I haven't contributed to this blog much lately. But, I know there are a few who may like to make a post or even comment but can't because someone has taken control of it and hasn't given everyone access-HINT. So, get working on that. I know Quentin would like some access and Christian and her kids. See what you can do. Thanks

And the baby is..........

not here yet. Sorry John we are not very entertaining. Last week Ivana was 50% effaced and 2 cm dilated. Wednesday she was 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced & the Dr. stripped her membranes. Today she is having contractions...... so fairly soon.

Little guy's name will be Joshua Mateus Lackey (JM Lackey). See I can follow family traditions. He will be here Monday at the latest as we scheduled an induction for Monday (but I don't think we'll make it to Monday).

Entertain Yourself

Sorry John didn't realize that it was my job to keep you entertained. I so funny. This should be entertaining for you.

You all bore me

No one ever posts. You don't even post on your own blogs (except Sarah) I check every day and nothing.

Grapefruit

I am trying to diet and had hoped to enjoy a grapefruit for dessert ( I finished all the Ben & Jerry's Choco Therapy). But no, Asha decides she now likes grapefruit. Ate the whole thing. And drank all the juice. And it was the last one....

My Fishcake and Mango Salsa Recipe

This came out really nice and no fishy taste.

Cakes
White Fish (I used Orange Snapper - 3 fillets) blend until it's like ground meat
1 Red Pepper - diced
1 Red Onion (medium size) - diced
Fresh Pinapple - diced (1/4 cup)
Cilantro - finally diced
2 long beans diced (like green beans)
Garlic - 2 small cloves diced
2 tablespoon oats (like oatmeal)
One lime (squeeze juice into fish)
Salt and Pepper
I added some cayenne pepper as well for some kick, though you can add red curry paste or whatever you would like. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl until good and mushy.
Make into nice patties and then lightly flour on both sides. Grill in a pan until golden brown on both sides (best if you have a grill pan with the lines in it) then back on 375 for about 15 minutes.

Salsa

One large mango diced
cilantro
two small tomatos diced
one red onion diced
red pepper (bell) diced
one chili pepper (if you want spicy) diced
salt to taste

mix everything together in a bowl. serve on ths side of the cakes or over the top.

These came out better then some cakes I've had in restaurants. Took 30 minutes and is easy to prepare, so give it a try.

Kevin - sure you can try with kokanee.
