Happy Birthday from Mom and Dad. I had this whole post ready for your birthday and it just disappeard so will try again. I have decided that as a birthday gift to you I will post what I can remember about your birth - before I forget more. John and I were living in Okinawa, as your father was in the Army stationed in Okinawa. When we got back together, I had to stay in Missouri until we could get on base housing but in the meantime John decided to buy a house on the local economy so we could be together. The house we got was a small 4 room house - 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and living room. Any way I arrived in February and soon after that we decided to have another baby. The pregnancy was uneventful. I even traveled to Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan during the beginning of this pregnancy. I was given a due date of 30 January 1971. At that time there were no ultrasounds to tell us the sex of the baby so we were just hoping for a normal healthy one. Anyway the EDC came and went and I was beginning to think I would never deliver. Think I was a little spoiled because John IV came three weeks early. The Dr. did tell me on the ninth of February that he would do an x-ray and if the hyoid bone on the baby showed up that he would induce me. It showed up and I was ready for induction. John took me to the hospital next morning for induction. Ater the usual prep they put an IV with Pitocin going. John then told me that he wanted to run down to the post office to get some stamps as this process would take a while. While he was gone Dr. M. came in to see how things were going. While there he did an exam and told them to take me to the delivery room. As I was being wheeled out of the room John came back and wondered where they were taking me. Once in the delivery room they had to give me some gas to slow down the delivery. John was not actually in the delivery room but stood behind a glassed in area. The baby came within an hour. And she was a beautiful daughter, weighing in at 7+ pounds with lots of brown hair. She did have a little crooked smile but I thought that it was probably from the rapid delivery. Even the neighbor who had five daughters of his own thought she was the most beautiful baby girl he had ever seen, and of course we had to agree. John wanted to name her Chrisjonna Rene and I told him that was because he was egotistical and wanted both children named after him. He told me it was some violinist's name and he liked it. Chris was very much loved by her older brother John and he enjoyed holding her and playing with her as she got bigger. Chris as the years have passed and you are now a mother of your own we just want you to know how much we love you and appreciate the young women you have become. Happy Birthday. Luv Mom and Dad
Mom, if you lose a post, go into postings, and then edit. You should be able to find it because it automatically saves it every couple of minutes. I think it is funny you thought dad was egotistical because he wanted to name her after him. He could have been like George Forman who has FIVE boys all named George 1, 2, 3 4, 5. Happy Birthday Chris. I'll try and call you later. That is awesome about the Price is Right. What luck, now I really wish I was down there with you. I am sure if you told some people that is what it is you could get them to go with you.
Chris is going to the Price is Right tomorrow, to try and get on it and it is there Million Dollar Spectacular. So, we are hoping she gets called down.
