Boy, have the years and the pounds flown by. I can remember taking you home to my parents as a little 5# baby. You came three weeks early. I had flown in from SLC while John and Louie drove in. Believe I came in on Saturday saw the Dr. on Wednesday and went into labor that Saturday. We had spent the 4th of July at Jeanie's and Dale's. We showed slides, had a picnic. The next morning John was to head to San Anonio, Texas for Officers Training. I woke up about 6:00 in the morning with the feeling that my "water had broke." Got up and sure enough I would be heading to the hospital 36 miles away. The plan was John would take me there and Jeanie would come later to be with me. I think your Dad actually dropped me off at the front door of the hospital and I went to labor and delivery. We got to the hospital between 8&9 and I did have to stay. My labor actually began around noon and by four I had the baby. I remember hurting so bad that I cried for my mother. I eventually had a spinal and a fourth degree cut - that was the "standard" procedure for that Dr. practice at the time. And he checked in (John) at 5# 5oz. It was so hot in the hospital, it was a hot, humid, raining July and there was no air conditioning that when John was brought to me he would nurse for a short time and then we would both fall asleep. He was brought on demand, my demand, as there was so much milk and I hurt so bad that I needed relief, no breast pumps back in those days. John was a good baby and gained weight rapidly, over three pounds the first month. His Dad saw him for the first time in Sept. when he got a three day week end for moon walk day. He was a great joy to me as John was in the army and was basically gone the first nine months of his life. My mother thought he was very spoiled as he would always cry when I left him with her. Maybe he still is. Anyway happy Birthday John. Luv MOM
Happy belated birthday. It looks like you beat mom to the punch. I was working yesterday, so I didn't get the chance to get on, but thought about how to wish you a happy birthday. wow, I was just thinking and you are almost the big 40. Unbelievable.
