Church in LA can be a star studded event

So, we had our primary program today which is combined with the Westwood 1st ward. Go to sacrament and am watching this older man in front of me thinking, "This grandpa sure isn't very reverent." He was swinging his arms in a batting fashion, waving, all but talking out loud to the kids on the stand. At the end of the program I realized, "Oh my gosh. That is Larry King." He was there to watch his boys in the program and was getting a bit antsy at the end, even lying his head down on the pew in front of him. He was taking his boys to their ballgame right after the meeting. His wife has obviously had some work done, well, that was my first thought when I saw her before I realized who she was. Then looking closer I was like, ummm, yeah, lots of work.

Which brings me to our next "celeb". Dr. 90210 He is really mormon and he is in the 1st ward and maybe he did her work?

Indian Hospitals

Paid a visit to the emergency room today. You all should never complain about conditions in the US again; ancient beds, no privacy (all patients out in a big room), family members everywhere, no emergency equipment to speak of. I did have a nice CT scan on a brand new GE machine. So while the facities aren't the best I paid all of $60 ofr a CT scan, 4 jabs of painkillers and the emergency room.

Halloween Blessings

I was just putting Jacob to bed. He was saying his prayers and says, "help me to have a good Halloween....wait pause that...hey mom, how many days until Halloween. (Mom answers, around 37) Okay, help me to have a good month until Halloween." hahahahahaha

Ready to Rock and Roll

toddlers and fruity pebbles don't mix

So, just FYI for those of you still with little ones to come....fruity pebbles and toddlers who decide to throw them everywhere they can while eating are a bad combination.
I'm still finding dried cereal on the walls, floors, ceiling, ect from last week. Avoid the fruity pebbles...

Baboons playing Basoons

y
So, Kade has music this year and has decided to give the basoon a try. I was holding Daniel when Kade started practicing in his room for the first time. Daniel broke into hysterical sobbing at the noise. It was pretty funny. I'm not sure, but he kept saying something about Daddy. Did he think Wade was dying?

On another note, enough of the redhead jokes already. Poor Kyrie gets picked on by the family enough, she doesn't need it any more.

what the heck

Those didnt make any sense to me what so ever.

Since we're on a roll

I realize this joke isn't about "redheads" or "irish" but it is pretty good and I could change it, but not worth it. . .

Here is a blonde joke that maybe you have not seen... enjoy...

A young blonde woman was driving through the Florida Everglades while on vacation. She wanted to take home a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking.

After becoming very frustrated with the attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the young Blonde declared, "Well then, maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator, and get a pair of shoes for free!" The shopkeeper said with a sly smile, "Well little lady, why don't you go on and give it a try?" The blonde headed off to the swamp, determined to catch an alligator.

Later in the day, as the shopkeeper is driving home, he spots the same young woman standing waist deep in the murky water, shotgun in hand.

As he brings his car to a stop, he sees a huge 9-foot gator swimming rapidly toward her. With lightning reflexes, the Blonde takes aim, shoots the creature and hauls it up onto theslippery bank. Nearby were 7 more dead gators, all lying belly up.

The shopkeeper stood on the bank, watching in silent amazement. The blonde struggles mightily and manages to flip the gator onto its back. Rolling her eyes heavenward, she screams in frustration,"CRAP! THIS ONE'S BAREFOOT, TOO!"

An Irish Math Test

Irish Math Test

An Irishman applied for a job on a construction site, but the foreman wouldn't hire him until he passed a simple maths test.

Here is your first question, the foreman said. "Without using numbers, represent the number 9."

"Without numbers?" The Irishman says, "Dat tis easy," and proceeded to draw three trees.

"What's this?" the boss asked.

"Ave you got n o brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine," said the Irishman.

"Fair enough," said the boss. "Here's your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99."

The Irishman stared into space for a while, then picked up the picture that he has just drawn and made a smudge on each tree. "Ere you go."

The boss scratched his head and said, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?"

"Each of da trees is dirty now. So, it's dirty tree, and dirty tree, and dirty tree. Dat is 99."

The boss was getting worried that he's going to actually have to hire
this Irishman, so he said, "All right, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100."

The Irishman stared into space some more, then he picked up the picture again and made a little mark at the b ase of each tree and says, "Ere you go. One hundred."

The boss looked at the attempt. "You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred!"

The Irishman leaned forward and pointed to the marks at the base of each tree and said, "A little dog came along and crapped by each tree. So now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, which makes one hundred."

"So, when do I start?"

Redheads - this was so good needed it's own post

A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled across an old lamp.He picked it up and rubbed it and out popped a genie. The genie said "OK, OK. You released me from the lamp, blah blah blah. This is the fourth time this month and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three. You only get one wish!"

The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but I'm scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive my car there?"The genie laughed , "That's impossible. Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete-how much steel! And the maintenance of that bridge! No - think of another wish."

The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, "I'm married to a redhead. So, I wish that I could understand her... know how she feels inside and what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment...... know what she really wants when she says 'nothing'... know how to make her truly happy......I want to know how she can be so damn sexy one second and be the devils daughter, the next. I really want to understand her and how she thinks!"

The genie said, "You want that bridge with two lanes or four?"

Family Potrait

The family picture can be viewed at www.pickmyprints.com It would be nice if Wade was in it as there is room for him. But will need to get in touch with Amy soon. Hope everyone is doing well. We got our Russian language material today. I am sure this will be no easy feat but will try. Lov m

Highschool Sucks (the story of my life)

It consumes too much time. I dont like it. (did you really expect this post to be long?)

Last Chance

I will be done with the newsletter editing on Sunday. If you have something, it better be to me by then, if you don't, you won't be in the newsletter, obviously. Thanks.

SOLD

I recently read SOLD by Patricia McCormick which was about selling children into prostitution in INDIA. It was written in 2006 and she interviewed people who had been sold into it and escaped with help. John, how big of a problem is this still, do you ever see it or hear of it?

Australia - Chris and Sarah

I need to know if the two of you can put the kids on a plane in SLC and LA, respectively. I need to confirm the dates, but they will most likely fly out on Dec 25 and return on Jan 10. You need to check them in and meet them at the gate when they land. Let me know as i need to get tickets fairly soon.

Software

If anyone needs software for pretty cheap, let me know. For example, I just got a copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus for $70.00 big ones. I think it retails for a few hundred more than that....

elders quorum in LA

Wade has discovered the perils of teaching Elders Quorum in liberal LA. He taught a lesson yesterday on marriage, and listed what he felt were some of the things assaulting the institue of marriage such as homosexuals trying to redefine the meaning of marriage, dead beat dads, ect. He mentioned living in the South and seeing what dead beat dads were doing to the black culture and what a problem it was for them especially. After class, as I was coming in with the kids, he was being layed into by a guy claiming that adultery is more to blame for problems with marriage than homosexuals and that he was a racists for his comments on blacks. I made a quick exit with the kids and didn't catch the rest. Then in the parking lot he was approached by another guy he was asking a question about sticking to principles and what about singles who are at dances where there is really no interaction going on between the sexes? What????? Needless to say, he probably won't accept an offer to fill in again. I told him to blow it off and to remember it is always right to stick up for what is right and true and reminded him about what the proclamation on the family says.

Back to the first guy in the classroom, he was going on about "the church can make any claims it wants to about not smoking/drinking/marriage" as I was walking in. It's probably a good thing Wade handled it as I would have looked at him and said, "so now we are questioning the teachings of the prophets and revelation and replacing them for our own belief system?" or something to that effect. I don't know. Sexual sin is sexual sin. Maybe homosexuals are born with more of a predisposition towards same sex attraction, but it is no different then being attracted to someone of the opposite sex and refraining from acting improperly upon those feelings. I can understand their feelings of never being able to be legally married to someone they love, but I can't question the word of God about it. My first week in Relief Society there were a few comments about some lesbian people (not sure if they were members or friends of members). I wasn't really paying close attention as I had Daniel with me, but I sure get the feeling that more traditional/conservative ways of thinking are looked upon as closed minded around here. Enough of that soap box.

Namaste

We've managed to get internet finally (albeit via remote data card) though we still have no land line (phone), but such is life in Bangalore.

Send Redhead our way if she wants to see true hardship (boo hoo your power went out....). Monsoons created havoc over the weekend with 4 hour jams and flooding everywhere. Power is typically out 4 hours a day and it's impossible to go anywhere out side (walking). Happy to provide a little cheese for her whine.....

Finally managed to post NY and vacation photos. We saw a few Dum Dums in NY (can you guess which one is the dum dum?)

We also saw a couple of monkeys at the reunion ( which one is the monkey?) and even saw one eat his own feces (monkey that is).

Dad seems to be taking to retirement...

and Pris n Asha know what to do most days as well.....

UCLA

I don't want to cause to much of an uproar for all you BYU fans out there, but did anyone else notice how the Utes dominated UCLA? Just a moment for reflection...

Who said Boise has jobs?

With the decline in real estate in Boise, I decided it was time to find a new job. Now, Boise is a growning city and does have jobs, but none that I really want. However, if you have a degree you can walk into any business, banking, or sales job here even without experience. It seems that a colleg degree is peffered even over experience. Heck, I can't even get banks with openings for a teller to call me back. So the search continues, and we have decided to even go to other states if necessary. Currently I have two prospects, one in Pocatello, and the other in Utah. So hopefully by next week we will know where we are headed. College here I come.

The Happiest Place on Earth***until you realize how much it costs

So, we made our first visit to DisneyLand today. We are all TIRED but going back tomorrow. The older kids have quickly decided they like Lagoon better. They think Disney is to "babyish". We are going to California Adventure tomorrow, maybe they will find that more exciting.

Moscow, Russia

Well, I think Dad got the closest although Chris did say she didn't want it to be the former USSR. Dad guessed the Ukraine, although Brett also thought it would be Eastern Europe. How exciting!!! We will get to see them around for Christmas and Thanksgiving this year. I found a good map that you can zoom in on at http://www.mapresources.com/preview for all interested in getting a better idea of where they will be. Click on world maps, then click on the interrupted world maps and click on one and then just look on the right hand side where it says best and zoomify and you can navigate it how you want. Dad will fit right in. Can't we all just see him in one of those fur hats with a leather coat and fur? Too bad he won't be able to have his beard to keep him warm. We love you and are excited for you.

Teething for boys.

I thought Carley and Keeley's days of teething were hard, but compared to Q2 I have now changes my views. Boys I feel are more prone to crying do to the low thresh for pain.
I never had either of them up all night sobbing,in the cute baby sob,nor did we ever have to continually hold them to comfort them from the pain.
2 is currently getting his two front bottom teeth and he really does not like it. I think if he could talk he would say something like "I reget to inform you, but if God would have reminded me just how painful it is growing and getting teeth, I might have reconsidered, and asked someone else to take my place for the first four years of life." Perhaps the girls felt the same, perhaps we all did.

PRISONBREAK 2

Brett and I get in these crazy kicks where we decide to watch whole seasons of a show within a few days. It isn't good for sleep. We stay up late because we have to know what happens next, but the problem is there is 24 hours of shows, the next doesn't come until a long, long time. We did this with the first prisonbreak and we did it with the first 24. So, for all of you who are followers, I am sure you understand my pain. Don't let me know what happens-BTW. We are almost done---yeah!! Just in time for the premiere next week.

Luscious Lips

So I feel like I am constantly getting cold sores, or my lips have bad reactions or something and for the past two days my bottom lip has been the size of my whole face (or at least that's what it feels like). It's swollen with blisters all over it. It's very painful and uncomfortable. It's gross-looking, and makes me want to crawl into a hole. I think that this time it was a combination of a sunburn from Bear Lake on Monday and stress because work has been awful this week and I still think my Math teacher is a big jerk so that makes school stressful too! I know that I'll pretty much just have to let it go away in a few days, but would lips fall into the dermatology category? I'm wondering if there's something I could put on them to make it heal faster or at least have the swelling go down and be less painful in the healing process.

STILL NO MISSION CALL

JUST GOT THE MAIL AND STILL NO MISSION CALL. SO DAD GETS ON THE PHONE AND CALLS DR. DODY. HE REPORTS THAT IT SHOULD BE HERE REALLY SOON, MAYBE TOMORROW, AND IT SHOULD BE AN INTERESTING ASSIGNMENT. THEN HIS PHONE WENT DEAD. HE IS NOT FOR SURE WHERE THE CALL IS TO AS HE IS NOT NOTIFIED BEFORE WE ARE. I STILL HAVE TO DO THE NEWS LETTER SO SHOULD GET BUSY. TODAY WAS A STAY HOME DAY WITH SOME OF THE GRANDKIDS. IT IS STILL RAINING AND I TOLD SAVANNAH THAT THE ELFS WERE MAKING THE THUNDER WITH THE SPILLING OF POTATOES OUT OF THE WHEEL BARREL AND TO CONFUSE HER MORE I TOLD HER IT WAS RAINING CATS AND DOGS. YOU SHOUOLD SEE THAT LOOK ON HER FACE. THEN SHE LOOKS OUT THE WINDOW TO TELL ME THAT THERE ARE NO CATS OR DOGS OUT THERE. WE ARE TAKING IT EASY TODAY WITH ALL THIS RAIN. THE EARTH LOOKS GREEN AGAIN LUV M-GM

The Passing of a Truly Great Man

I just found out that my director at Jerusalem passed away after a battle with Leukemia. He was one of those men who truly looked each student in the eyes and touched them in their hearts. Inspired, spiritual, beloved, and kind. Odd how it just so happens to be at the 10 year mark for me going to Israel. It has been such a day of reflection. . . it always makes me think of what I will be remembered for. Here is the link to his obit in case any one is interested. http://www.legacy.com/DeseretNews/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=93878534

Celebrity Sightings

So. . .I think I saw my first celeb today. Granted, he's not as "red carpet" worthy as he used to be, but we did make eye contact. BTW, he looked sober and clean. So who was it? I know you're dying to know. Here is a much better picture of him than his infamous mug shot. He even had the goatee tonight.

You like my new shirt.... right?

Here is the beautiful and awesome moi. Hehe, i got bored and took a picture of me. You like my shirt.. right? (you better :| or ill come get you in the night)

Melting Away in St. George

We all headed down to St. George for Labor Day weekend and it was HOT, HOT, HOT. We had fun though and it was nice to have a little break. The kids swam a ton and Tanner always wanted to know what we were doing next. We took him to the driving range to let him swing his golf clubs. I am quite disappointed, I didn't take my camera because I couldn't get the battery to charge, but he looks pretty cute with his clubs strapped to his back. We are training him young so hopefully it will pay off someday. Brett played two rounds of golf and shot a 76, 79. I think he wishes he could go pro. Oh, FYI newsletters are due. I know we have the blog, but not everyone is posting and this will keep us up to date on the whole picture of every family.

WATCH

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx1XIm6q4r4&mode=related&search=

AHHHH!

In that movie poll i created, DONT FORGET PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN 3 THAT IS MY ALL TIME FAV MOVIE EVER!!!!

stupid power outages & mother could never make it as a pioneer

uggh the power freaking went out. it was so gay. and so momma went out to eat, and i wasnt feeling well so i didnt want ice cream, i wanted frozen yogurt and she had a spaz about it. and she told me i could never make it as a pioneer, but by her latest post... you can tell she couldnt either. lol. well i talked a good deal to my friends via phone at the whites house (some ppl my mom met at church but they have no kids my age) and rocked out w/ guitar hero 2 with brother white. ha ha it was funny. im going to alisse's house tomorrow at 3 PM so remind me please. sayanora!

He performed my appendectomy. . . .

So mom and dad, guess who's in our ward. Dr. Stahli's daughter Suzanne. She had us over this afternoon. Dr. and his wife live in the SLC area now and served a medical mission to Equador. She said they really liked it and work for the church's office doing something organizing or training or something for them still (something to do with medical missions).

We got home from church and our power went out. Since it is only 100 degrees here today it was no big deal. . .NOT!! We stayed as long as we could take it and then went to Wade's office and were jack-mormons, ate out for dinner. Sorry, know you raised me better than that, but I couldn't take the heat and couldn't stand the thought of trying to cook over a gas oven/stove to make something. We have our power restored and are chillin. . .

eh. have to get up to early. :(

Why is seminary so freaking early?! I have to get up at 5:30 every morning if i want to get ready for school and make it to seminary! Uggh. :( yeah the beach was okay but when my family comes up from the ocean all sandy and wet, they are NOT permitted on my mat. i dont really like to immerse my whole body into the ocean (it smells bad and hurts your eyes) so i tend to bring a book and read. i finished "Twilight" which was an EXTREMELY good book, and its clean too, cause it was written by a mormon. Yeah so im really tired and im going back to bed.

Family fun at the Beach

So we spent a few hours at the beach again today. It was really nice. The waves were huge and we had a good time. Kade wants you to know he stepped on something that stung him. He thinks it was a bee. Here are some pics and videos. (See Wade is real for those of you who haven't seen him in years or ever.) We are all getting quite good at boogie boarding. Kyrie decided not to get in the water today. She laid on the beach and slept and read a book.
